Profile - I started karate at the age of 5 after being introduced to it by other family members who were part of the Middlesbrough BMAKA club. At the age of 8 I started competing and have so far won over 70 trophies and medals. My love for the sport grew and grew and I progressed onto weapons and full contact.
After training for years every Sunday at the local BMAKA club coached by Dave Lancaster, I began training more often during the week at other BMAKA clubs. My love and passion for the sport has led me to travel the world to places like Ireland and the USA to participate in International competitions.
I have a wealth of experience in karate which has led me to have the ability for me to share my knowledge with others. I have always been enthusiastic to help teach others in the club over the years to further develop their skills also. I now run the Middlesbrough BMAKA Club, taking classes every Sunday, passing on my skills and experience to other members willing to learn.
I have just recently gained my Level 2 Fitness Instructor Qualification and I am looking to build upon this to achieve Level 3 in Advanced Gym and Personal Training. With these in mind, I aim to be not only a better athlete through gaining more theoretical knowledge, but a better coach by incorporating what I am learning into the teaching process.
From the future I aim to further develop my skills and knowledge of the sport through competing at a more advanced level against various opponents and trying to increase other people’s knowledge and understanding of karate.
